Finishing Choices
Are you planning to use your walnut butcher block countertop for food preparation? To ensure your safety, we recommend mineral oil or conditioner. If you are not planning on using your walnut countertop for food preparation, we instead recommend conversion varnish.

Once your walnut butcher block arrives, you should apply one coat of the oil to the top, sides, edges, or any other exposed areas of the butcher block daily for one week. Following that, you can apply the mineral oil once monthly. Be sure to keep your walnut butcher block frequently oiled. You should be able to locate food-safe mineral oil at your local drug store.
